When it comes to everyday life, Te Wiremu House makes it easy with personalised Rest Home, Hospital, Day Programme, Respite, secure Dementia Care and Village. The well-appointed Rest Home rooms all look out onto delightful gardens and come complete with a nurse call system and WiFi. Many of the spacious Hospital rooms are furnished with ensuites.
Part of the Gisborne community since 1960, Te Wiremu House is set amongst beautifully landscaped gardens just a hop, skip and jump from the town centre where you’ll find all the essentials including a pharmacy and library. Te Wiremu also offers a village lifestyle with its connected Bruere Village.
We offer everything from physiotherapy to podiatry, a scooter bay, SKY TV, hairdressing and health checks. We have a range of recreational activities and have received awards from the NZ Aged Care Association for meeting the needs of War Veterans.

Levels of care
Rest Home Care
If you or a loved one have a medical condition or are less able to lead an independent life, our Rest Home living offers dedicated 24/7 care from our team of registered nurses and trained carers.
Hospital Care
If you or a loved one suffer from significant disabilities or medical conditions, particularly where the loss of cognitive abilities is a recognised factor, our Hospital Care could be just what you’re looking for.
Day Programme
If you or your loved one would enjoy some company and activities now and again, many of our Rest Homes invite locals who may be considering a Rest Home to come and enjoy our Day Programme.
Respite Care
Heritage Lifecare Respite services provide carers with a much needed short-term break. It is different from our Day Programme service as it allows guests to stay under our care for more than a day and up to a couple of weeks.
Dementia Care
If you’re looking for Dementia Care, our focus is to alleviate any stress and uncertainty from the moment you and your loved one steps in our door.

Additional Daily Accommodation Charges
We are pleased to be able to offer residents coming into our homes a range of premium room options. The premium room options provide intending residents with choices to suit their individual preferences, e.g. a full en-suite, semi ensuite, larger room or unique view.
A Premium Room Accommodation Charge is a fee that you pay in addition to your Daily Care Fee. The amount of additional charge depends on your rooms features, and this varies based on the premium room features and by Care Home location. Accommodation Premium Room charges range from: $3 to $9*.
